Mayor Ann Murphy retires after serving 32 years on Mayo Town Council

The meeting had a somber tone, as Mayor Ann Murphy announced her retirement after 32 years of dedicated service to the Town of Mayo. Murphy began her career with the town council in 1991, where she served as a council member. Over the years, she moved up to serving as vice mayor before eventually accepting the position of the town's mayor. After the announcement of her retirement, the council unanimously voted for Wayne Hamlin to become the new mayor of the Town of Mayo and Mamie Thomas to become the vice-mayor.
