The Florida Department of Education (FDE) has officially released the district and school grades for the 2022-23 school year, and one of the tri-county school districts has once again come out on top.
The Florida Department of Education (FDE) has recently unveiled the district and school grades for the 2022-23 academic year, showcasing outstanding achievements in several tri-county school districts. Among these, the Lafayette County School District has emerged as a standout performer, earning the highest overall grade in the State of Florida.
The district earned a total of 545 points, with a 59 in English Language Arts, a 67 in Mathematics, a 62 in Science and a 74 in Social Studies. This stellar performance earned the district an overall rating of A, reflecting the dedication and excellence demonstrated by the students and educators within Lafayette County.
Lafayette Elementary School achieved an overall grade of B, showcasing proficiency in English Language Arts (60), Mathematics (61) and Science (52), accumulating a total of 173 points. Meanwhile, Lafayette High School maintained an exemplary overall grade of A, with notable achievements in English Language Arts (59), Mathematics (71), Science (67) and Social Studies (74); the combined efforts of students and educators resulted in an outstanding total of 555 points. "We are extremely proud of the recent recognition we received from the Florida Department of Education, ranking Lafayette County as the number one school district in the state. This is in direct correlation to the continuous dedication to student success our teachers and administrators show each and every day. This is only made possible when everyone - students, parents and all school staff are committed to the same vision and mission. Our vision is to graduate a student who has the skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful, productive citizen. We are doing that year after year. I would like to thank all of our instructional leaders for their continuous effort toward this student success," said Superintendent Robby Edwards. "I would also like to give recognition to Stewart Hancock, Paula Ginn and the entire Lafayette High School staff for their fifth year as an 'A' school. They continue to lead the state in Middle School Acceleration, College and Career Acceleration and Graduation Rate. Their success in these areas plays a major role in our overall success as a district. Thank you Lafayette Elementary for laying a solid foundation to build upon. And, thank you parents for caring and staying involved in your child's education."
The Hamilton County School District earned an overall grade of C, accumulating a total of 311 points. The district demonstrated proficiency in English Language Arts (33), Mathematics (34), Science (27) and Social Studies (36). While achieving a moderate grade, Hamilton County remains committed to educational excellence and continuous improvement.
Hamilton County Elementary School achieved a grade of C, with achievements in English Language Arts (37), Mathematics (38) and Science (37), totaling 112 points. Hamilton County High School also maintained an overall grade of C, with accomplishments in English Language Arts (30), Mathematics (32), Science (23) and Social Studies (36), amassing a total of 304 points.
The Suwannee County School District garnered an overall grade of B, earning a total of 460 points. The district showcased proficiency in English Language Arts (47), Mathematics (48), Science (48) and Social Studies (65). Suwannee County's commitment to academic excellence is evident in these commendable achievements.
Several schools within Suwannee County exhibited notable performances. Riverside Elementary secured a grade of C, while Springcrest Elementary achieved an impressive A. Pineview Elementary and Branford Elementary both earned a B. Suwannee Middle School, Suwannee High School and Branford High School maintained B grades.
These district and school grades exemplify the dedication, hard work and commitment to education demonstrated by students and educators across the tri-county region.
