Lafayette kicks off the season with the first Christmas parade

On Saturday, Nov. 25, flocks of Lafayette citizens made their way down to Main Street in Mayo. Children could be heard laughing and playing on the sidewalk as the sun dipped behind the curtain of the horizon and the streetlights turned on. Faintly, in the distance, the sound of drums could be heard. As the sound got louder, many kids realized what was happening: the parade had arrived!
Float after float passed by, throwing candy to the kids who screamed and laughed with joy. First responders led the parade and behind them came a menagerie of floats. There were princes and princesses, pageant winners and even a float spreading Christmas
