A Suwannee County man was arrested following a search of his residence where over $6,000 and multiple drugs were discovered and seized, according to the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).
According to a SCSO report, on Monday, Oct. 19, at approximately 9:16 a.m., a search warrant was executed at the residence of Jesus Manuel Perez, 44, located at 15820 North County Road 349 in Live Oak, where Perez was found to be in possession of numerous types of controlled substances, including: cocaine, cannabis, alpha-pvp (flakka), di-methyl triptamine, synthetic cannabis, methamphetamine, buprenorphine sublingual strips, along with assorted paraphernalia.
The event is reported to have occurred following an intercepted shipment containing souvenirs imported from abroad which concealed 392 grams of cocaine. The shipment was intercepted by Homeland Security and delivered to SCSO's Narcotics Unit. The shipment was then delivered to Perez, by sheriff's office personnel, and was signed for. Perez then took the package into his possession and went into his residence, where he opened the package and removed its contents.
The search warrant was then served and Perez was taken into custody. Upon a search of the home, deputies found an empty package on the floor of the master bedroom. The items inside the package were removed from the area. Perez later advised where the contents were located, where a majority of them were found in the master bedroom. Deputies also discovered an extensive list of controlled substances.
Perez was transported to the Suwannee County Jail and is being charged with: possession of marijuana; trafficking of amphetamine; three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, manufacture, deliver; trafficking of synthetic narcotics; trafficking of cocaine; use of a two-way communications device to facilitate felony and possession of drug equipment-paraphernalia.
SCSO reports that charges are currently pending for additional suspects.
