Calling all young bakers! It's time to dust off those aprons and bring out your best recipes as Suwannee 4-H invites you to participate in their Holiday Bake-off on Monday, Dec. 11. This annual event aims to bring together adults and youth in a collaborative holiday baking extravaganza.
To join in the festive fun, make sure to pre-register by Thursday, Dec. 7. Drop off your delectable creations between 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 and get ready for a day of friendly competition and holiday cheer. The awards ceremony and holiday party will commence at 6 p.m. that evening.
The categories for this year's bake-off are as diverse as the holiday season itself, ranging from cakes, cupcakes and pies to candies, cookies, gingerbread cookies, brownies/bar cookies, breads, special items/gingerbread houses and appetizers. Whatever your baking specialty, there's a category for you to showcase your skills.
Unlike traditional contests, the Holiday Bake-off encourages a collaborative effort between adults and youth. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and create something delicious for the holiday season. Feel free to use mixes, pre-cooked and non-cooked items in your creations; the ultimate key is to make it a joint project, with the youth taking the lead under the supervision and assistance of an adult.
Entries must not only taste great but also have a festive holiday appearance. Keep in mind that live plant materials such as holly, poinsettia, boxwood and others are not allowed in the entries, or the product will be disqualified.
To participate, ensure that a completed entry form, ingredient list and recipe accompany each entry for transparency.
The overall winner of each category will receive a coveted Golden Spoon, and the ultimate winner of the Holiday Bake-off will earn the prestigious Giant Golden Spoon and have their name engraved on the office plaque.
Take advantage of this chance to showcase your baking prowess, enjoy the creative possibilities and savor the festive atmosphere. Suwannee 4-H's Holiday Bake-off is not just a contest; it's a celebration of community, creativity and the joy of the season.
