Marie Earlene Burnam Carter, age 72, of Jennings, Fla., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, Ga.
Earlene was born on Aug. 1, 1948 to the late Harlon and Marie Dees Burnam. On Oct. 3, she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband Glenn. When Earlene’s mother passed away, she graciously accepted the responsibility of being there for her nieces and nephews as a grandmother figure, teaching them the fine arts of cooking and baking. She didn’t fail them because she was known for her fine cooking and baking skills and enjoyed the times she was able to share that gift with them.
Earlene was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. She joins in heaven her brother, Edward Harlon “Buddy” Burnam who died just 13 days ago. Survivors include: her husband, Glenn Carter; her two daughters, Stephanie Lim and her husband Jay of Va., and Shauna Sefsic and her husband Jeff of Penn.; three brothers, Lavon Burnam (Joy), Larry Burnam (Kathy) and Don Burnam (Beth), all of Jennings; her sister, Jean Jones (Bill) of Jacksonville; and sister-in-law, Connie Burnam of Jennings; five grandchildren also survive, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Burnham Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Burnham Christian Church, 4520 NW County Road 146, Jennings, Fla., 32053.
