Lafayette 4-H hosts Farm Judging Contest

On Friday, Oct. 27, the UF/IFAS Extension in Lafayette County hosted its annual Farm Judging Contest. Lafayette 4-H was a host to 90 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) members from Lafayette, Suwannee, Gilchrist, Taylor, Dixie and Madison Counties.
The first part of the day was focused on the evaluation of animals commodities based off of industry standards, as 4-H is focused on fostering future farmers. The different classes were: Market Steers, Breeding Gilts, Laying Hens, Dairy Heifers, Corn, Peanuts, Hay, Tobacco and Silage.
