A new crop of Suwannee County UF/IFAS Extension Master Gardener Volunteers recently completed the 100 hours of training required to become a certified Florida Master Gardener Volunteer. The volunteers help residents with gardening questions and provide research-based information on the Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Program. These volunteers endured 15 weeks of intense training on topics such as botany, soils, irrigation, fertilizers, pests, invasive plants, lawn maintenance, wildlife habitats, fruit and vegetable production. They must pass weekly topic and plant identification quizzes, pass a final exam, complete a class project and present it to their peers.
