In a time where there is civil unrest and hatred expressed against law enforcement, a first grade student at Lafayette Elementary School (LES) took the time to present the school’s resource officer with a gift of appreciation for his hard work and dedication to keeping them safe.
“The definition of a hero to this young man is someone who protects our school and students. He walks among us and never looks for praise or glory, he only wishes to protect, serve and save,” said LES Secretary Janna Walker. “You always do what is right and teach the students to do the same. Our school appreciates you every day and night.”
This gift was from Chelelo "Noe" Posada, and it was presented to Sergeant Jay Harris, who is in his third year serving as the school resource officer.
“We hope you know how much you mean to us. Thank you, Mr. Jay, for all you do for us and we pray for your safety,” she said.
