Suwannee/Lafayette REA receives $1 million check for volunteer hours

Danny Federico reporter3.riverbendnews@gmail.com Members of the Suwannee/Lafayette Retired Educators Association (REA) had their first meeting for the 2023-24 year on Monday, Sept. 18. During the meeting, they were presented with a check from the Florida Retired Educators Office and the National Retired Teachers Association in the amount of $1,062,178.88. The check represented the value of volunteer hours that District 3, which includes Suwannee/Lafayette, Taylor, Madison and Dixie County units, had spent in their community during the previous year.
