Around the Banks
Just a few fall memories...
The aroma of biscuits wafting from my Grandma Taylor's kitchen in Suwannee County, cane syrup, gallberry honey, mayhaw jelly, fig preserves, homemade sausage.
Hands joined around the table thanking God for the goodness of His bounty.
Fish fries, channel catfish, hushpuppies, grits that were ground at a local grits mill, coleslaw.
The musical sound of deer hounds awakening you early in the morning, the smell of burning leaves, the anticipation of Halloween and Trick or Treat.
Homecoming at local churches. Dinner on the ground. Enough food to feed Pharaoh's army. At Swift Creek, I always went first to the coconut pound cake made by the late Sarah Helen McCallum
