The Callie Jordan Mission Fund 5k Fun Run took place on Saturday, Aug. 12. Volunteers from across the county showed up the day before to help set up the event. There were bounce houses and booths everywhere. Crowds started to form at 4:15 p.m., despite the heat. Then, at 5:15 p.m., all the kids gathered together for the obstacle course. They were sent on a mile long run where they crawled, jumped and strafed their way through obstacles. The whole time, the Live Oak Police Department accompanied Paw Patrol members around the course.
Immediately after the obstacle course was over, the kids zone opened up while the adults prepared for their race. The kids enjoyed some face painting, rock painting, bounce houses and popsicles. At 6 p.m., the kids got some free pizza, while the adults lined up for the race. Racers got a nice run throughout Heritage Park and Gardens, before receiving some food and water and down time. Awards followed, rewarding the top three runners from each age category. Immediately after the awards there was praise and worship as everyone joined together to remember Callie Jordan and praise a gracious God even in hardship.
