Hamilton County youth have the opportunity to become a Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Explorer. The Law Enforcement Explorer program is a way to let young people who are interested in law enforcement know if it is the right career path for them. They receive basic law enforcement training, including report writing and radio procedure.
To apply for the program, applicants must be between 14 and 18-years-old. They also must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and they must pass a background screening.
To apply for the program, call (386) 792-2004 or visit the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office station at 207 NE 1st St., in Jasper. Get applications in quickly, as the first meeting will be Friday, Sept. 1, at 3:15 p.m. in the Hamilton County High School ROTC room, located at 5683 US-129, in Jasper.
