In a very telling decision made by Lafayette State Bank, the “Business of the Month” title in Mayo this October has gone to none other than the Lafayette County Supervisor of Elections. The election coming up has most, if not all of our country, heavily invested in their candidates with both time and emotion. Local citizens in the area each weekend lead various small parades on boats and canoes on the rivers and springs to express their convictions in signs, songs and flags with their candidate of choice proudly shown.
Hopefully the interest in important election years such as this one ebbs into more local interest in the other elections that take place locally each year and keeps fellow citizens exercising their freedoms and choosing who they think is best for all.
The Riverbend News reached out to Supervisor Travis Hart and he had this to say about the title: "I am very pleased that our office has been named business of the month by Lafayette State Bank. It has been a great help with our advertising to get the word out about this historic election that is underway. What a great way to help support our community. Early voting will be begin on Monday, Oct. 19 and will end on Saturday, Oct. 31. Hours will be from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day. It will be held at the Mayo Community Center located at 150 SW Community Cir., Mayo, Fla. 32066.”
