On Thursday, Aug. 10, a 61-year-old Live Oak man was driving his school bus on the first day of the new school year. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, during his route in Live Oak, on 153rd Road, he missed his turn onto 52nd Street. The driver claimed he did not see anyone behind him so he backed the bus up to go back to his turn. However, he backed up until he hit a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Live Oak woman. Both vehicles quickly relocated to the shoulder of the road. The bus held nine middle and high school passengers and none were injured. The driver was cited for improper backing.
