On Saturday, June 3 at 2:30 p.m., Patrice’s School of Dance held it’s 43rd annual dance recital. The theme of the recital this year was “Dancing Through the Sunshine State.” The dancers showed off their skills in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, baton, acrobats and pointe routines throughout the night with great success.
Special awards went to the following: Most Improved Ballet, Ragan Givens; Most Improved Jazz, McKinley Brown-Keys and Sarah Smith; Most Improved Tap, Avalyn Troutman; Most Improved Baton, Sadie Siemon and Katherine Nemcovic; Most Improved Acrobats, Paisley Ritchey and Emerson Shaw; Most Improved Pointe, Caleigh Stone; Novice Award, Lilly Parrish; Stage Presence Award, Mallory Moseley; Most Professional, Faith Register; Senior Awards, Jaylah James, Ayleen Negrete, Megan White and Abby Register; and Dancer of the Year, Addison Byrd and Brynna Norris.
Congratulations to all the performers on a job well done! The show ended with a memorable ballet performance with instructor Patrice Jackson joining instructor Cheryl Byrd on the stage one last time. After 43 wonderful years, Jackson is retiring and passing the torch to Byrd, her assistant of many years. Studios are located in Mayo and Branford, and will be called Studio B Dance & Twirl.
