At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible deceased female at the northbound intersection of Interstate 10 and Highway 129.
The body was found on top of a hill, approximately 60 yards off the road, by a vagrant who was walking along the shoulder of the southbound lane of Highway 129 when they spotted what looked like a body in the tree line. SCSO Deputies responded to the area, and confirmed the location of a deceased older female. It appeared she had been there since the middle of June. Her remains were sent to Tallahassee for positive identification.
Sheriff Sam St. John is following up with a family who had reported one of their relatives missing earlier in the month in hopes of attaining dental records or DNA for the confirmation of the female’s identity.
At this time the cause of death is unknown.
