On Sunday, June 11, Deputy Dustin Wagner was on patrol when he saw a white Dodge pickup truck speeding down Highway 247. Deputy Wagner attempted to stop the vehicle as it swerved in between lanes consistently.
Once the traffic stop had been conducted and Deputy Wagner approached the vehicle, he could immediately detect the scent of alcohol off of the driver. According to the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office report, the driver was identified as Rodrigo Guadalupe Vazquez, a 22-year-old from Fort White. Vazquez admitted to drinking alcohol, and willingly partook in the field sobriety exercises. However, he performed poorly on them. On top of that, Deputy Wagner found an open box of beer in the rear seat of Vazquez's truck.
Vazquez was arrested, taken to Suwannee County Jail and charged with driving under the influence. Though he had initially refused the breath test, Vazquez consented to the test when he arrived at the jail. The test results revealed he was over the legal limit. His first test placed his blood alcohol content at .195g/210L, and the second test came back at .194 g/210l, both of which are double the legal limit of .08 g/20L.
