On Saturday, June 17, Jasper native Juana Susan Allen Williams (61) passed away in a single vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. on County Road 143, north of 64th Trail. According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Williams was traveling northbound on County Road 143 when her sport utility vehicle veered to the right onto the east grass shoulder. The report states Williams reacted by pulling the steering wheel too hard to the left, causing the vehicle to travel across both lanes before traveling into the west ditch. She then pulled the steering wheel to the right, at which time she struck a tree and overturned. Williams was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Williams is survived by her husband 45 years, Richard Williams; daughters, Lindsey Williams Hughs (Al) and Jean Williams Stroud (Robby); grandchildren, Allen Lee, Avery Stroud, Alden and Sarah Addison Hughes; and siblings, Randy and Gale Allen, Nita Allen Cruce and Dempsy Allen. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Williams has been the business manager of both Reid Family Partnership and Harry T. Reid Funeral Home for nearly 30 years. As the manager of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, she has been an oasis of peace for many families in Hamilton County and surrounding areas in their darkest times. She has been a loving friend and calming shoulder when needed. She was loved by many. Williams was the kind of woman who gave everything she had for anyone in need, no matter how big or small; she would be there if anyone was in need. She will be deeply missed throughout the community.
