Two members of Suwannee High School's historic 2022 baseball team that advanced to the FHSAA Class 3A State Championship series Final Four have continued their winning ways at the next level. Peyton Waters and Tyson Greene are both in their freshman seasons with the Saint Johns River State College Vikings in Palatka, Fla. With a 44-17 record, the Vikings advanced through the playoffs with wins over Palm Beach State College and Pasco-Hernando State College, which set themselves up for a three-game series against the Lenoir Community College Lancers for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Regional Playoffs. The Vikings took the first two games of the series to sweep the Lancers to secure their spot as one of eight teams in Enid, Okla., for the NJCAA World Series.
Waters has contributed in his freshman season by appearing in 14 games, where he carried a 5-1 record in 27 innings with an earned run average of 4.67. Greene contributed 10 hits on 46 at-bats with three home runs, two doubles and a batting average of .217 on the season.
The Vikings will match up against the Madison College Wolfpack on Saturday, May 27, in Edin, Okla.
