On Friday, May 5, the Suwannee Pineview Elementary chorus took a trip to Advent Christian Village. The crew went out for a field trip and performance to help spread joy to the seniors, as well as to learn more about Advent Christian Village and how they serve the senior population. The chorus performed seven songs back-to-back for the crowd in The Village Church. They started off the morning with “Simple Gifts” by Jay Althouse, then continued with “That Dixieland Sound” by D. Besig and N. Price. The chorus then sang about the world with the “Peace Song” by Greg Gilpin. The kids then took a foray into the more modern by performing “Better When I'm Dancing” by Meghan Trainor and T. Dixon. Then, due to the high Veteran population, the chorus took a turn for two songs. They sang “This is Our Land/ You're a Grand Old Flag” by George Cohan and Berta Poorman, and “Thank a Vet” by Mike Wilson. The kids turned to a classic with a fun twist performing “You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” from the 2014 version of Annie. The chorus ended the show with “To Believe” by Matthew Evancho. After their performance, the kids were given a tour of Advent Christian Village and got to spend time with the seniors before getting lunch and heading back to school.
