Theresa Gunter Koon was arrested on Tuesday, May 16, for grand theft in the first degree. For years, Koon had been stealing money from her former employer. While working at Howard's Septic, Koon would write checks for $889, made out to an unnamed individual. She would then take the checks to the TimeSaver in Branford, where she would cash them. In investigating the crime, Suwannee County Sheriff's Office investigators saw that Koon's bank records showed her making $2,000 and $3,000 deposits on top of her normal paychecks. On top of all this, she admitted to writing and cashing the checks during a controlled phone call with a redacted individual. In total, over multiple years, Koon stole roughly $163,119. She was arrested on charges of fraud, forgery and grand theft.
