The Branford High School Buccaneers racked up over 400 yards of total offense, including 241 yards on the ground, on their way to a 41-6 trouncing of the Cardinals of Bishop John Snyder High School, on Friday, Sept. 25.
The game was tied at six points apiece at the end of the first quarter. Then, the Bucs scored 22 unanswered points to build a 28-6 score, going into halftime. After a scoreless third quarter, the Bucs added 13 insurance points to finish the rout.
Bodhi White led the Bucs' rushing attack with 129 yards on 11 carries and one rushing touchdown. Seth Heiderman went 16-for-22 throwing for 190 yards, with one passing touchdown and one interception. Clay Williams was Heiderman's top target with five receptions and 121 yards and one touchdown pass.
The stingy Buccaneer defense held the Cardinals to just 65 total yards of offense. The Bucs only allowed one third down conversion in eight attempts throughout the contest.
Next up for the Bucs (3-0) is a classic rivalry game against the Hornets of Lafayette High School. The Hornets (2-1) are coming off a 37-22 win over the Flame West Oaks Academy, from Orlando. The game will take place on Friday, Oct. 2, at Lafayette High School. Lafayette High School is located at 160 NE Hornet Dr., in Mayo, Fla. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
