Lafayette High School's (LHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) has grown this year, allowing them to have the most recorded members with 45 high school members and seven middle school members. From Friday, March 24 through Monday, March 27, Lafayette FBLA took a total of 31 students to the Florida FBLA Convention, which was held in Orlando. This year was historic for both Florida FBLA and Lafayette FBLA. Florida FBLA made history with a total of 4,806 attendees, while Lafayette FBLA also made history by taking 31 competitors – the school’s highest recorded number. Florida FBLA states that the top two middle school teams in the state will advance to the national level. Middle school members Jaxon Murphy and Justin Swinson Jr. placed second in the Marketing Mix Challenge. Another middle school member, Fhelix Hernandez, also placed second in Running an Effective Meeting. High school competitors must place in the top four in order to advance to nationals in Atlanta, Ga.
Lafayette FBLA had three teams qualify, including: Introduction to Business Presentation – First Place – Wyatt Chandler, Durand Driver and Harrison Jackson; Business Ethics – Second Place – Elisabeth Cook and Aubrey Sarmiento; and Broadcast Journalism – Third Place – Logan Byrd, Jayden Davis and Hannah Murray. Lafayette FBLA also had a top five finalist in Impromptu Speaking: Kambry Moseley. National qualifiers will compete this summer from Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30 in Atlanta.
