The Lafayette High School varsity baseball team honored its seniors prior to the first pitch of their home game against the Taylor County Bulldogs (9-4) on Thursday, April 6. The Hornets (11-3) honored each senior with a moment of reflection of their contribution to the baseball team throughout their careers. Each player was escorted onto the field by their family. As the game got underway, the Hornets were led by senior Matthew Jenkins, who went all three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit while striking out eight batters. At the plate, the Hornets were led by senior Dawson Mock, who went 2-3 with two homeruns, and drove in seven runs, while scoring three runs and a stolen base. The Hornets went on to collect 11 hits as a team while defeating the Bulldogs, 17-0, in three innings.
