On Friday, March 17, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies located and apprehended 58-year-old Michael Duwane Koon of Branford after investigating allegations that he potentially drugged and took advantage of an intoxicated female victim who was present at a local bar in southern Suwannee County.
Through investigative means and search warrants, investigators located an extremely incriminating video of Koon and the victim. The video depicted Koon having sexual intercourse with the victim against her will and consent. The victim was incapacitated and unaware of her surroundings and what was occurring. The SCSO report states that during the video, the victim repeatedly tells the suspect, "No."
Koon uploaded the video recording to a social media forum which was sent to multiple contacts exposing the acts he committed. A witness who received the production then became concerned about the victim and sent law enforcement to conduct a welfare check as she could tell the victim was in danger. This same witness proceeded to go to the location she recognized in the video and removed the victim from Koon’s company, and took her to seek medical attention, according to a SCSO report.
Koon was booked into the Suwannee County Jail at 9:30 p.m. on March 17. He was charged with sexual battery and video voyeurism dissemination. He has since been released.
