On Friday, March 3, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper Ryan MacFadden spotted a silver sports utility vehicle (SUV) traveling south on US 129 with an obscured tag. Trooper MacFadden conducted a traffic stop and explained to the driver why he had stopped him.
He told the driver he needed to see his driver's license and the driver refused to comply with his request. Later identified as Michael Rhashad Mccollum of Branford, the driver refused multiple times to give MacFadden any identification, an FHP report states.
With the assistance of a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Officer (SCSO) Deputy, the subject's vehicle was boxed between two patrol cars. In an attempt to flee, the driver drove forward until his vehicle struck the rear of the Deputy's cruiser, then he backed up until he struck the front of the FHP patrol car.
After about 30 minutes, the report states, the driver provided his identification to the Trooper, which revealed he had a suspended driver's license and was currently on probation. The subject was arrested and charged with three felony violations, one misdemeanor, violation of probation and a traffic violation. The driver was arrested and booked into the Suwannee County Jail.
