On Tuesday, Feb. 7, Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Jamie Tyndal to serve as interim Judge on the Hamilton County Court. On Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, Judge Kenneth “Sonny” Scaff chose to step down from his role as the elected Hamilton County Judge. Due to there being two years left in his position, this left a need for a new judge to take his place. By Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, six candidates were interviewed and three candidates were nominated by the Judicial Nominating Commission: David Arthmann, Jamie Tyndal and David Valin. Finally, Governor DeSantis appointed Tyndal on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Tyndal has owned the Law Office of Jamie L. Tyndal, P.A., since 2021. She also served as the Office Supervisor at the State Attorney's Office for the Third Judicial Circuit. Her Bachelor's and law degrees are both from the University of Florida. Tyndal will serve the remainder of Scaff's term until August 2024, when the seat will once again be up for election.
