On Thursday, Feb. 2, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Deputy Jason Herrera was dispatched to an incident involving 18-year-old Javarius Whetstone, who was reportedly standing in the middle of the road naked. Upon arrival, Deputy Herrera spoke with the complainant, who explained that, at approximately 6:50 a.m., Whetstone walked into the woods and undressed until he was naked. The report filed by the HCSO states, while outside, Whetstone began “waving his arms and shook his body.” The complainant informed Deputy Herrera he had video evidence of the incident.
Deputy Herrera then made contact with Whetstone, who was seated at the entrance of the woodline fully clothed. The report states he asked Whetstone why the HCSO received a call that he was naked in public, to which Whetstone responded he “was only ‘peeing.’” Deputy Herrera then asked why he needed to be naked to pee, to which Whetstone replied that he was not. The report states Deputy Herrera began to walk back to the complainant when Whetstone admitted that he was naked during the incident.
The HCSO arrest report states the reason Whetstone was naked in public was “[redacted] was upset because [Whetstone] was showering and [redacted], so he [went] outside to pee.” Deputy Herrera was then shown two videos by the complainant; the first showed Whetstone standing at the wood line naked, and the second showed him rushing to get dressed because the HCSO had been called.
Whetstone was detained, placed in the back of Deputy Herrera’s HCSO patrol vehicle and transported to Hamilton County Jail, where he was charged with indecent exposure.
