The Alachua County Sports Complex at Celebration Pointe called for competitors to compete on their indoor track on Saturday, Jan. 14. Suwannee High School's TJ Derico answered the call when he competed in the triple jump and long jump events. Derico placed ninth out of 14 competitors with a triple jump of 12.09 meters. He jumped 6.07 meters in the long jump, which was good enough for a ninth-place finish out of 23 competitors.
Then, on Saturday, Jan. 21, Suwannee High School's Brigadier Scott and Morgan Mobley represented, as both competed in their first-ever indoor track meet. Mobley began the day competing in the 800-meter race, where he recorded his personal best time of 2:05.49. As the competition continued to unfold, Mobley placed eighth out of 34 competitors. Scott then competed in the 3000-meter event before joining Mobley in the 1600-meter race.
The indoor track facility was different for the Suwannee competitors, as this was the first time they had competed at an indoor track. All three competitors enjoyed the different atmosphere while representing Suwannee High School and look forward to continuing to compete in the future.
