On Tuesday, Jan. 3, at approximately 10:42 a.m., the Live Oak Police Department (LOPD) received a telephone call from a woman in reference to a delayed sexual battery. According to the LOPD report, the caller advised on Sunday, Jan. 1, her daughter stated she did not want to go back to the residence of, 62-year-old Ronald Flaurr, who is a family relative. The report states, when the woman asked why her daughter did not want to visit Flaurr, she went into detail about how he sexually assaulted her in her bed to the point where she was in pain.
On Wednesday, Jan. 11, the victim attended a forensic interview conducted by the University of Florida Child Protection Team in Lake City, Fla. During this interview, evidence of sexual battery was disclosed.
The report goes on to state how, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 8:40 a.m., the victim's mother informed the LOPD that Flaurr and his wife were making plans to move to Kentucky as soon as possible due to the incident being reported to the police in Florida. At approximately 9 a.m., LOPD officers went to Flaurr's residence, where he agreed to be taken to the police department to participate in a recorded interview. The report states, following the interview and post-Miranda, Flaurr denied all the allegations in this case.
Due to the nature of this case, and based on Flaurr's intent on leaving the state to avoid prosecution, he was arrested on-site at the department. Flaurr was transported to the Suwannee County Jail, where he was charged with sexual battery on a victim under 12 years of age.
