Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) play an important role in our community by helping to save lives and property. They need to be prepared for any type of emergency that may occur. In order to be successful in this field, Firefighter/EMTs need to have a wide range of skills and knowledge. Because of this, after vigorous training at the academy, trainees will become probationary firefighters. The probation period will last from six to 24 months to evaluate and test their abilities as firefighters.
Suwannee County Fire Chief Eddie Hand presented new Firefighter/EMT, Jonathan Rance, with his new helmet and shield for completing his probation period. These items are a symbol of achievement, showing the numerous hours of training Rance has undergone to reach his goals.
