Suwannee County resident Jimmy Norris has been the Director of the Suwannee County Economic Development (SCED) for more than four years. During this time, Norris has been the driving force bringing new businesses into the county to help grow the economy with jobs and revenue. Norris has also worked and helped local entrepreneurs pursue their dreams of opening new businesses in Suwannee County.
During his time with the SCED, he has also partnered with many programs to advance the future of tomorrow's youth with various opportunities and avenues. At the same time, he has generated a buzz of interest from youth throughout Suwannee County to better educate them on how to start up their own business and work with local government.
In 2021, the SCED was awarded the prestigious 2021 Rural Deal of the Year Award from the Florida Economic Development Council for securing Binderholz as a catalyst site in Suwannee County. Due to his dedication and hard work in his position, on Wednesday, Nov. 23, Norris was appointed as the new Chairman of the North Florida Economic Development Partnership (NFEDP).
Past Chairman Darryl Register and City of Monticello Mayor Julie Conley welcomed Norris aboard. Together, they will serve and help facilitate economic growth and development, along with capital investment, in their 14 county region. The NFEDP markets and promotes the region nationally and internationally as a premier business and economic development destination.
