Suwannee Hardware and Feed in White Springs hosted its annual Sugarcane Festival in collaboration with the community street sale on Saturday, Nov. 12. The festival filled the streets of White Springs with items from the past, including an old-fashioned sugar cane grind, traditional blacksmithing and vintage vehicles. The event kept attendees both young and old enthralled. Vendors sold handmade items, arts and crafts, food, plants, clothing, accessories and more. Also at the event was the OneBlood Bloodmobile which was able to collect 12 lifesaving units of blood. Party University of Lake City, Fla., provided a bounce house for youth to enjoy at the event.
During the event, there was a raffle, where the first-place prize was a golf cart. This was won by the Spradley family. Helen George won the second place prize, a $1,000 gift card. National Ms. United States Agriculture, Kaitlin VanHeusen also attended the event. Additionally, the festival featured a beekeeping display, axe throwing and the opportunity to see pottery bowls and vases built live.
