From Monday, Nov. 7, through Friday, Nov. 18, the Live Oak Artists Guild’s (LOAG) art of various mediums was displayed at the Live Oak Public Library for the 24th Autumn Artfest. On Friday, Nov. 4, 13 artists earned awards during the LOAG Autumn Artfest reception.
Jeffrey Smart Baisden won Best of Show for her colored pencil drawing, “Greasers” and Diane Harm won the Judge’s Choice award for her colored pencil drawing, “Eye on a Gal.”
Others awarded during the reception were:
- Drawing, first place, Sharon Hester, “The More He Saw.”
- Drawing, second place, Melissa Miller Nece, “The Beckoning Wave.”
- Drawing, third place, Suzanne Marcil, “Serenity.”
- Drawing Merit Award, Anda Chance, “All that Remains.”
- Painting, first place, Renee Shiska, “Untitled.”
- Painting, second place, Eileen Box, “Sarasota Sailing.”
- Painting, third place, Betty Belair, “Sunset through the Woods.”
- Photography, first place, J. Robert Wolfe, “Ole Steel Bridge.”
- Photography, second place, Grace Bowman, “Along the Sands.”
- Three Dimensional, first place, Ray Spivey, “1800 Cattle Drive.”
- Three Dimensional, second place, Vernice Sparks, “Gecko on Basket.”
Cristine Cabral, who has taught at Valdosta City Schools, the Catholic Diocese of Savannah and Valdosta State University, judged the entries. She is a professional artist with a studio in Valdosta, Ga. “It was my distinct pleasure to view and judge the 24th annual LOAG Autumn Artfest Fine Art Exhibition,” Cabral said.
