On Sunday, Nov. 13, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Live Oak Police Department (LOPD) Officer B. Taylor responded to a residence in reference to a female being held at gunpoint. According to the LOPD report, the apartment’s front door was wide open when authorities arrived. Officer Del Sasso proceeded to identify himself as law enforcement prior to entry into the property. Upon entering the residence, officers observed a white female in the master bedroom, later identified as 34-year-old Jessica Jenkins.
Jenkins stated she was the "bad guy" and was immediately detained on scene. After she was placed into handcuffs, a search of the apartment continued. Officer Del Sasso proceeded into the master bedroom, where he located a screaming female locked inside the bathroom. The female unlocked the door and exited the bathroom, identifying herself as Aleesha Drolet. The report stated Drolet appeared to be in fear for her life and was visibly upset.
Officers then located a silver Taurus Spectrum .380 caliber handgun on the television stand in the living room. There was a round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine. The firearm was immediately unloaded and secured. Jenkins was escorted to a patrol vehicle by Officer Del Sasso while Officer Taylor conducted further investigation with the victim.
Drolet stated Jenkins had been her best friend for approximately 16 years. She then informed Officer Taylor that Jenkins has a key to her residence, but is only allowed to use the key when she is given permission. Drolet told authorities that, at approximately 12:57 a.m., Jenkins started sending her text messages calling her a "dirty wh*re" and being very hateful. Drolet suggested Jenkins was upset because Jenkins's husband stopped by Drolet’s residence before the incident. She added that Jenkins told her through text messages, "I am going to come to your house with a gun and kill you." Drolet advised the next thing she knew, she heard banging on her front door and the door handle was moving up and down in a fast manner.
Drolet stated she and her son, Nathaniel Stoudemire, walked out of their bedrooms to
figure out what was going on at the front door. The report states Drolet advised, as she walked around the corner into the living room, Jenkins entered the apartment through the front door and pointed a handgun at her chest.
Drolet then told officers Jenkins began stating, "I am going to shoot you." Drolet advised she told Stoudemire to go back to his bedroom and contact law enforcement. She then slowly started walking backwards to her master bedroom while Jenkins was still pointing the handgun at her. Drolet stated as she entered her bedroom, she hid in the bathroom closet until law enforcement arrived. Drolet added that, while she was hiding in the closet, Jenkins continued to make threats to shoot her. Drolet advised she was in fear for her life and believed Jenkins was going to shoot her.
While interviewing Drolet and Stoudemire, Officer Del Sasso interviewed Jenkins outside. Jenkins informed Officer Del Sasso that she knew her husband was at Drolet's apartment utilizing narcotics and stated she was upset. Because of this, she proceeded to Drolet's home. Jenkins then stated she used a key for Drolet's apartment and entered the home. Jenkins advised, when she entered the property, she was wielding the firearm in her right hand. She stated she told Drolet to "tell the truth," while still holding onto the firearm but claimed she never pointed the firearm at Drolet during the altercation. Jenkins then refused to answer any additional questions. A pink and gold key was located on Jenkins's key ring, which Drolet stated belonged to her apartment.
At this time, Jenkins was placed under arrest and transported to the Suwannee county jail without incident. Jenkins was charged with burglary while being armed, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, and false imprisonment. She has since been released.
