On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Branford High School (BHS) Interact Club worked in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Branford and community leaders to put together BHS's annual Fall Festival. This event acts as a fundraiser for classes, clubs and teams at Branford's elementary and high schools, all while providing a fun, costume filled experience for youth and adults alike.
This year, businesses and organizations were able to create their own game booth for the festival, which could be played for a small charge or donation. Funds raised by these booths were then donated to a class, club or sports team of the organization's choice.
Two booths, one of which was run by Beachville Construction and one which was run by Branford Town Council member Stacey Lee Griffith, helped raise just under $300 to go towards purchasing water filling stations on campus. The Interact Club and the Rotary Club of Branford also put together a painting station and a game area, which raised another $100 in donations.
“It was a great day with lots of smiling faces and so many visitors. It was definitely enjoyed by everyone,” said Misty Ward, Interact Club advisor. “We hope to expand it more next year with more businesses hosting games to sponsor classes, clubs or teams on campus. This will benefit the school as well as the community with more opportunities for festival attendees to play.”
