My alarm clock goes off early every morning, at 3 a.m. I get up, I exercise, take a shower, get ready for the day, do some household chores, and head off to work.
I remember my father getting up early every morning and leaving the house to go to the office to get an early start on the day. I’m sure, looking back now, he was probably up around 4 a.m. every morning. He got up, did things around the house and then headed into the office. I can understand why now … for my favorite time to work is before 8 a.m., after 5 p.m. and on the weekends; that’s when I can get the most work done!
They say it’s in the genes; that a mutation in the gene DEC2 allows for some people to be natural short sleepers. It’s every over-achiever’s dream; to be able to function normally with just four to six hours of sleep a night instead of the normal eight. They say it’s not that people (like me) have trained ourselves to wake up early; we are born this way.
I wake up naturally, anywhere between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., with no alarm clock, every-single-day! I feel energized and am ready to take on the world, with a smile! According to a recent study, only one in every 300 people might have these genetic markers.
Early in the morning, our brains are fresh and full of ideas. It is during those first few morning hours that I take the most notes on what I want to achieve that day. It is during those first few hours that I feel that “Today IS the day! Today is the day I will be at my peak! Today I will give my all; in everything I do and with everyone I come in contact with! Today is the day all of my dreams will come true!”
How you start your day often determines how you live your day.
You must set your mornings up so that you start off in a strong positive mindset, ready for anything that the day will throw your way! To live a great life – you have to get your mornings right! Don’t just wander out of bed and throw yourself aimlessly at the drama of this world. Set your foundation for a stronger day … and in time, a better life!
Get up with purpose! And develop a routine that works for you! Build a habit that builds a strong body and a strong mind.
You’ve got to know your why; for your why will always make you strive to be better and to do better! No one will reach their dreams if they don’t have a vision and don’t purposely strive towards those visions each and every day! Live your life with purpose and never give up!
The mornings are an opportunity waiting to be grasped. It’s not so much about what time you wake up: it’s about time management and making the most of every moment.
But, most importantly, regardless of what time you wake up … be grateful! Spend at least a few minutes thanking God for all the things that you DO have and for all the opportunities that will come your way that day! Thank God for the day and for the fact that you woke up alive. Thank Him for your family and that you woke up in a house and not on the streets.
And then go out; hit the ground running and seize the day!
