On Thursday, Oct. 13, Deputy Larson Zimmerman with Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) was sent to a residence near 189th Road in Live Oak. The sheriff’s office had been contacted by the father of a child living at the residence. According to the SCSO report, the father claimed that, while he was in an argument with his child’s mother, 24-year- old Roger Dale Robinson of Live Oak, her boyfriend, began approaching him with a knife. He also claimed Robinson told him he would stab him in the neck. The reporting party then told SCSO he feared for his life and that he suspected Robinson had an active warrant for his arrest. He then informed the sheriff’s office Robinson drives a green Dodge truck.
According to the report, deputies confirmed Robinson had an active warrant out of Suwannee County and that he did not have a valid driver’s license. At this time, deputies began searching the roads in the area for Robinson, eventually finding a 1999 green Dodge truck on 189th Road. Deputy Zimmerman attempted to stop the vehicle by turning on his lights and sirens, however, Robinson failed to stop and led a chase for roughly three miles. Other deputies joined Zimmerman in the pursuit, with multiple parties reaching high speeds. Eventually, the chase was called off, but law enforcement continued to follow at a safe distance and speed. The report goes on to state Robinson eventually stopped his vehicle on 225th Road, at which time he surrendered. After detaining Robinson, the SCSO discovered that the license plate attached to the truck was not assigned to the vehicle. During a post-Miranda interview, Robinson told law enforcement that he did approach the reporting party and threaten to fight him, but claimed he did not have a knife during the altercation.
Robinson was then charged with one count of aggravated assault with a weapon, one count of fleeing/eluding law enforcement, one count of a non-moving traffic violation due to the unassigned license plate and one count of moving traffic violation due to driving without a valid license. Robinson was transported and booked into the Suwannee County Jail on Thursday, Oct. 13.
