The Lafayette High School golf team traveled to face off against district foe, the Madison County Cowboys on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Over the course of the regular season, the Hornets have matched up well against the Cowboys, positioning themselves in a favorable spot as they begin eyeing the approaching District Tournament.
The Lafayette boys began the day with Trey Galbraith, who has continued to score sub-40 on nine holes. Galbraith ended the day with a low score of 37. Following him was Harris Johnson, who shot a 43 and continues to show terrific growth heading into the District Tournament. Senior Riley Edwards was next, recording a 46 on the day and rounding out the Hornets’ score card was senior Brent Sullivan, who posted a score of 54. Unfortunately, the day would go to the Cowboys, as the Hornets fell just short by three strokes with a final score of 180 compared to their opponent’s score of 177.
The Hornets wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Quail Heights in Lake City in a tri-match against the Union Tigers and the Trenton Tigers. Keep an eye out for coverage of this matchup on Riverbend News’ website.
