On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Suwannee High School girls' golf team traveled to Quail Heights to take on the Columbia Lady Tigers and the Middleburg Lady Broncos. While the Lady Bulldogs have routinely been led by freshman Ryan Donaldson, not even she could have imagined the record-setting day that was in store.
As the match began to unfold, it did not take long to notice the Lady Bulldogs were having a good day. However, in the world of golf, everything can fall apart in an instant, as focus is the main opposition on the day. Going throughout the match, the Lady Bulldogs realized the type of day Donaldson was having, and the question quickly became one of how far she could go. Stroke after stroke, hole after hole, Donaldson continued to dominate the course. Then, as her score was calculated, Donaldson discovered she destroyed her personal record, recording a low 33 on nine holes.
While Donaldson's score may have been the highlight of the day, the remainder of the team also played exceptionally well. Breanna Rodriguez recorded a score of 53 on the day, followed closely by Jordyn Rodriguez, who was only two strokes behind with a score of 55. Rounding out the Lady Bulldogs' scorecard was Kate Kirby, who recorded a score of 63.
As the team scores were tallied up, the Lady Bulldogs ended their day with a total of 204, putting them in second place. The Lady Tigers finished first on the day with a low score of 165, while the Lady Broncos finished third on the day with a score of 269.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 13, as they host the Lady Tigers at Suwannee Country Club. Tee time is scheduled for 4 p.m. Suwannee Country Club is located at 7932 US 90, in Live Oak.
