On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Suwannee High School cross country teams traveled to Lake City to compete in the Alligator Lake Invitational, featuring 14 teams in the boys’ division and 12 teams in the girls’ division. Although they did not earn a top spot as a team against such stiff competition, both groups were pleased with their scores, as five of their top finishers placed in the top 20.
The Bulldog boys were led by Morgan Mobley with a time of 17:55 and a seventh-place finish. Following him was Brig Scott with a 12th-place finish with a time of 18:16. Next was Paul Gunter, who ran a time of 18:32 and placed 15th. Rounding out the day for the boys was Isaac Starling with a 16th-place finish with a time of 18:53. Their combined efforts earned the Bulldogs a third-place team finish.
The Lady Bulldogs had an equally impressive day. They were led by Ryleigh Hermanson, who placed fourth overall with a time of 21:43. Also scoring for the girls was Lacey Hermanson with a time of 22:46 and a 15th-place finish. Bri Woods recorded a time of 22:47, giving her a 16th place finish, while Maria Ramirez closed out the day with a time of 23:26 and finishing 22nd on the day. Combined, the Lady Bulldogs earned a fourth-place finish on the day.
The Bulldogs were back in action on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the FSU Invitational in Tallahassee. Next, they’ll be competing in the 2A District 1 meet on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Emerald Coast Middle School. The Lady Bulldogs will run at 9 a.m. and the Bulldog boys will run at 10 a.m. Emerald Coast Middle School is located at 4019 Hwy 90 E, in Santa Rosa Beach.
