Bernice Russell, 68, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on September 27, 2022, in Greenville, Fla. Bernice was born July 26, 1954, in Perry, Fla., to Onseylo Sadler and Audrey Roberts Sadler.
Bernice was a hard worker providing for her family. She refused to retire when it was time and continued to work. She loved her family and her cats, cooking, fishing, being in the woods, filming wildlife, and looking for arrowheads.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Onseylo and Audrey Sadler; her sisters, Geraldine Lundy and Barbara Smith; and brothers Harvey Sadler, Euston Sadler, Carroll Sadler, and Randy Sadler.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Homer Russell; two children, Doreen Culbreth, and her husband Eric, and Joey Russell, and his wife, Shaun Katrina Russell; five grandchildren Chelsea Aman, Alyssa Culbreth, Justin Culbreth, Zachary Russell, and Courtney Russell; four great-grandchildren, Braden Wright, Cayden Wright, Eustis Wright, and Kaylin Russell; one sister Becky McLeod and her husband Henry; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry, with Danny Lundy officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterward in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family received friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
