On Saturday, Sep. 17, Live Oak Police Officer Brandon Taylor responded to TD Bank around 11:27 a.m. in reference to a disturbance. According to the incident report from the Live Oak Police Department, while en route, Officer Taylor was informed that a woman was causing a disturbance in the bank’s drive-thru.
When Officer Taylor arrived to the scene, he made contact with the woman, who identified herself as 36-year-old Shatheria Hicks. Officer Taylor questioned Hicks about the situation, to which she responded, “I just want my money. It is my money. This is a free country." Officer Taylor then instructed Hicks to stay by his patrol vehicle while he spoke with employees inside the business.
Officer Taylor first contacted the bank’s manager, Britney Poulin, who stated Hicks stopped her in the lobby as she was on her way to assist a customer. She stated Hicks asked for her assistance because she was in a hurry
and needed to cash a check. Poulin told Hicks she would assist her once she is done assisting the customer she was currently helping.
According to the report, Poulin stated that when she started walking behind the counter to continue helping the other customer, Hicks asked her what her name was. Poulin advised after she gave her name, Hicks started making insults toward her and other employees. Hicks also reportedly approached an employee counting money, stood next to the customer the employee was assisting and stated, “That’s a lot of money. I am going to rob you.” Poulin then reported that Hicks told the customer she would be waiting outside for him. Hicks then proceeded to exit and walked towards the bank’s drive-thru.
While outside, Hicks tried to open the door to a customer’s unoccupied vehicle. Additionally, a witness stated Hicks then walked to the door of the drive-thru building and grabbed the door handle, attempting to enter the building. The witness added that Hicks then walked around to the window stating, "Give me my money. Can I have my money," and walked towards her vehicle, where she retrieved something. Hicks was heading towards the front doors of the business when law enforcement arrived on the scene. Hicks was transported to the Suwannee County Jail without incident. She was charged with simple assault, disturbing the peace and burglary. She has since been released.
