It's time, once again, to get out your measuring tapes, your staple guns and your young, athletic-types to help prepare your floats and vehicles for this year’s Veterans’ Day Parade!
American Legion Post 107 is proud to once again present the (renamed) Suwannee Veterans’ Parade; previously known as the “Live Oak Veterans’ Day Parade.” Our parade is in its ninth consecutive year, thanks to the efforts of some very dedicated folks, including businesses, families and individuals whose names we will be proud to publish in later articles!
Last year, we announced that we would be judging the entries – which is what happened; however, we did not have accurate information regarding the entries themselves – so, we were unable to contact the “winners.” This year, we are registering everyone, by name, in the hopes we can keep tabs on who is who!
As with last year, we will be judging the top three entries, with cash prizes: $150 for first place; $100 for second place and $50 for third. Our theme this year is: “Women Veterans – Value to the Nation.”
If you wish to register your entries, you may pick up applications at the Suwannee Chamber of Commerce, located at 212 Ohio Ave. N, in Live Oak; American Legion Harry C. Gray II Memorial Post 107, located at 10726 142nd St., in McAlpin or the Live Oak Public Library, located at 1848 Ohio Ave. S, in Live Oak. You can turn them in to those locations or mail them to: Suwannee Veterans’ Parade at 8001 97th Ct., Live Oak, Fla. 32060. If it is practical, we would appreciate if you could mail them to that address, so that we can assign entry numbers in a timely manner.
We look forward to another exciting, fun parade this year. With your help and thoughtfulness, it will happen!
