Randy Lamb, a former resident of Live Oak and resident of Brunswick Ga., lost his battle with cancer on Monday, Sept. 7. Due to mounted medical expenses and now funeral expenses, the family is asking for help during this difficult time. A GoFundMe account has been created for online giving and an account has been established at First Federal Bank in Live Oak for those who wish to donate locally.
Prior to his death, Lamb's niece stated, “As many of you may know, my uncle Randy Lamb has been suffering with COVID-19 for the last month. He could not shake a fever and had difficulty eating and regaining his strength,” said Shelly Monroe. “He went to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for more extensive testing. Unfortunately, we didn’t get great news. Doctors have found aggressive cancerous lesions in his body. We do not know much about the extent of the cancer or types of treatment plans yet.”
Lamb spent much of his life sharing the gospel through song and preaching. Up until his passing, he served as the pastor of New Day Christian Fellowship in Brunswick, and was the bass vocalist for a southern gospel group, Isaiah 61. “As a pastor and evangelist, God has used him to speak and sing to many, ministering to folks all over the world,” she said.
In addition to pastoring the church and performing across the southeast with the group, Lamb served as a chaplain with law enforcement agencies for the past 20 years, as well as the Charlton County High School football teams.
With high medical bills and the unexpected passing of Lamb, the family needs help now more than ever. To help the family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe account was created and can be found online by searching “Randy Lamb Cancer Fund.” Those who wish to donate using cash or check may do so by visiting in-person or mailing their donation to First Federal Bank, 804 Ohio Avenue South, Live Oak, Fla. 32064.
“God has used Randy’s testimony in a mighty way and now it is time for us to bless his family during his time of financial need,” said Monroe. “We appreciate you all so much and cannot thank you enough for the prayers, support and encouragement you’ve shown to us already. To God be the Glory, and we will continue praising Him through this storm.”
