Deborah "Debbie" Lee Dansby, 64, of Mayo, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. The Whiteville, N.C.-born-native moved to Mayo in 2001 from Marathon, Fla. She served as a pastor's wife for 35 years and spent the last 21 years at Branford Church of God. Mrs. Dansby was heavily involved in church, singing, playing the piano, and also taught Sunday school. She was a substitute teacher in Lafayette County and worked at Badcock Furniture for a number of years. She loved to cross stitch, crochet and decorate; her real passion was her family. Mrs. Dansby is survived by her husband of 42 years; Rev. Gary Dale Dansby; her mother, Jonnie Lee Kidd Whittington and her father, Malcolm Whittington Sr.; son, Justin Dansby (Cindy); daughter, Amanda Lee Dansby De la Cruz (Erick); brother, John David Whittington and four grandchildren, Anna Belle, Gabriel, Leonardo and Mateo. She was preceded in death by her brother, Malcolm Whittington, Jr. Celebration of Life was held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 19 at Alton Church of God Family Life Center with Bishop Ron Sanderson and Bishop Tim Hamm officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. There was a visitation held prior to the services at 2:00 p.m. A celebration meal followed the interment for all who wished to attend.
