Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) play an important role in helping to save lives and property and they need to be prepared for any type of emergency that may occur. In order to be successful in this field, Firefighter/EMTs need to have a wide range of skills and knowledge. Because of this, after vigorous training at the academy, trainees will become probationary firefighters. Probation will last from six to 24 months to evaluate and test their abilities as firefighters.
Throughout the month of August, Suwannee County Fire Chief Eddie Hand presented three Firefighter/EMTs with their new helmets and shields for completing their probation period: Dawson Dando, Zach Hand and John Weschrek. These items are a symbol of achievement, showing the numerous hours of training undergone to reach their goals. Congratulations to these individuals for their hard work and dedication!
