As the new school year begins, there are new teachers to hear about, including Brittany Thomas. Thomas was raised in Live Oak and attended Suwannee schools, graduating from Suwannee High School in 2015. Immediately after graduating, Thomas moved on to the college scene, where she attended Saint Leo University, and graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. On top of all this, she earned her endorsement in Reading and English for speakers of other languages to help facilitate the future kids she might have in her classroom. Internship was the next step, and Thomas saw her chance to return to the place she loved, and had her first internship at the original Suwannee Primary School. She also finished her final internship at the same school. Now, she has been given the chance to return once more, becoming one of the newest first grade teachers for the 2022-2023 school year.
Thomas is married to her high school sweetheart, Blake and, together they have two children, Magnolia (4-years-old) and Dylan (1-year-old). In fact, Magnolia will be going to Riverside Elementary with her mother. The family are members of Lake City Church of God. Outside of work, Thomas enjoys reading and spending time with her family. “It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Riverside family and I couldn’t be more excited to be here,” Thomas said in a Facebook post.
