Joy Smith, age 89, of Branford, Fla., passed away Saturday, July 16, at her home following a brief illness. She was born on Sept. 29, 1932, in Boston, Ga., living most of her life in Suwannee since 1959. She was a loving wife, mother and Mema, who loved her family, and spending every moment she could with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She also loved to fish any chance she got, especially with her husband.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Onor Lee Pafford; a son, Charles Pafford and a granddaughter, Pam Pafford.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Smith Sr., of Branford; one son, Walter (Theenie) Smith Jr., of Branford; two daughters, Lynn (Cliff) Ward, of Branford, and Ann (Terry) Rogers, of Live Oak; a daughter-in-law, Pat Pafford; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m on Tuesday, July 19, in the Live Oak Cemetery with Jeff Boatright officiating.
